This was a two platform station. It was not convenient for the village of Marykirk, being some distance to the north.
The main station building was on the northbound platform. North of the station was a goods yard on the west side, accessed by reversal. The signal box was on the southbound platform.
The station closed to passengers in 1956. The box closed in 1963.
The line remains open.
The village of Marykirk is about a mile and a half to the south (Marykirk Viaduct was much closer, just to the west of the village).
