This was a two platform station. The main station building was on the northbound platform.
There was a goods siding starting from the south end and on the east side of the line, approached from the south. The signal box was at the south end of the northbound platform. The box was badly damaged by a derailment which tore out the front of the building, but was rebuilt.
The station closed in 1950 and signal box in 1964.
Just to the west was the Marine Hotel, since closed and replaced with housing.
Muchalls Viaduct is to the north and Muchalls Mill Viaduct to the south.
