The Dundee Dock opened in 1862 at right angles to the main Perth station in the southern part of the station's carriage turning area on the east side of the station. Prior to this the awkward arrangement was that trains from Dundee West reversed south of Perth to reach the station.
A signal box 'Carriage Landing' opened in 1873.
The dock was closed in 1886 when the new Dundee platforms opened on the east to south curve. These platforms were linked to the rest of the station by the 'Dundee Corridor', built on roughly the site of the former dock.
'Carriage Landing' box closed and a new box opened at the east end of the Dundee platforms (the eastbound platform), 'Orchardbank'. Here the three lines through the Dundee platforms dropped to two going east towards Perth Princes Street.
The line east to Perth Princes Street was singled in 1921 with the eastbound line being lifted. A length of the eastbound line was retained as a siding accessed from Orchardbank.
The box closed in 1962 replaced by Perth Power Box.
