This was a junction in the west of Dunfermline. It was a pair of junctions. The older junction was Charlestown Junction [Whitemyre] which opened between the Stirling and Dunfermline Railway of 1849 and a short branch south east to the Charlestown Railway.
More importantly this was the junction between the Stirling and Dunfermline Railway and the West of Fife Mineral Railway of 1858.
The two junctions were out of line so it was not possible to run from the Charlestown curve to the West of Fife without two reversals.
The signal box was on the south side of the line just west of the Charlestown connection.
The West of Fife Mineral line to Lilliehill Junction closed in 1963
The Charlestown connection was taken out in 1967. The signal box closed the following year, 1968.
The railway was singled in 1973, the westbound line being lifted.
Finally the railway closed in 1993, following the closure of Comrie Colliery.
