On August, 12, 2020, after heavy rainfall and extreme weather, the Union Canal burst its banks near Muiravonside and flowed into neighbouring fields, causing havoc for local landowners. [Railscot note - the floodwater washed out a portion of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway].
