The early phases of the Aberdeen station redevelopment project will begin on Monday.
(Permalink) Aberdeen Station improvement Aberdeen: Hourly Aberdeen to Montrose stopping services seem to have sneaked into the timetable when I wasn't looking. They give Portlethen and Laurencekirk a regular service, but this train anyway was rather empty. The scene is Aberdeen's Platform 4 on 2 October 2019. Aberdeen: As I alighted from the Class 158 from Stonehaven at Aberdeen on 10th January 2019 I was immediately hit by the strong smell of gloss paint. The whole of the station is covered in scaffolding with workmen beavering away. The north half of the main concourse is rather gloomy in its current state.

ScotRail has confirmed that work on the second phase of the redevelopment of Motherwell station will start next week.
From Monday, 24 August, and over the next six months, the redevelopment work will focus on the main station building which will see changes to how customers access platform 2 and 3. The main stairwell to platform 2 and 3 will close to make way for a larger concourse area, and the mezzanine level of the station will be refurbished with new lighting, flooring, ceilings, and a glazed roof. Work on the £14.5m redevelopment of Motherwell station is set to begin next week.
From Monday, 29 June, contractors will begin work on the initial stage of the redevelopment project with the demolition of an old building at the bottom of Platform 1 to make way for a new staff car park. The demolition and construction of the new car park is expected to take around six weeks to complete and will have no operational impact on the station. However, the taxi rank at the front of Motherwell station will close over the coming weeks to make way for staff portacabins in preparation for the next stage of the redevelopment works. Taxi pick up and drop off will remain available on Muir Street. The second stage of the redevelopment will see work take place on the main station building over a six-month period, which will bring changes to how customers access to the station platforms.
