This branch ran from Stevenston No 1 Signal Box into the Nobel Explosives factory. There was a single platform terminal station at Ardeer with a yard alongside.

This box was east of Stevenston station at the point where the 'new' 1947 spur from the Lanarkshire and Ayrshire Railway met the Ardrossan Railway (allowing closure of the route via Kilwinning East in coming years). The box also controlled the exchange sidings for the Nobel Explosives Works.

There were two sets of exchange sidings near Ardeer alongside the mainline. Those more distant to the mainline were fenced and associated with the Nylon plant. Access to the sidings was by reversal via a loop on the down line, terminating at the west end close to Stevenston station.

The Nylon plant at the ICI Ardeer site was opened in 1969 in the far north of the site, away from the explosives area, next to the Ardrossan Railway and Nobel Exchange Sidings.

This signal box controlled a junction on the Ardeer explosives works branch. To the north the line ran to Stevenston (both CR and GSWR lines). It was a single track line with a loop at the signal box. To the south the line split into the new (west), old (central) and new (east) approaches to the works.

This was a single platform workers station. It had a long single platform with a covering over the southern (terminal) end of the platform.

This signal box was within the Nobel Explosives works at Ardeer, the box was located at the exchange yard with the works to the east of Ardeer Platform. In addition to standard gauge lines the works had a substantial narrow gauge system. The Ardeer Power Station, for the works, was close to the yard.
