Grangemouth Harbour Railways (Caledonian Railway)

Introduction

A considerable railway network developed around the Grangemouth Railway (Forth and Clyde Canal)'s Grangemouth station. The first line running east from Grangemouth station was a North British Railway line to the Grangemouth Ironworks but the remainder of the lines running from this are largely Caledonian Railway (who owned the harbour) or later refinery lines. More and more lines were laid as the habour was grandually expanded. A considerable number of extra lines were laid in for the Grangemouth Oil Refinery which have extended the harbour lines further east and south. This large works leads to much of the traffic on the Grangemouth Railway (Forth and Clyde Canal).
