Reddish Shed

Two Gresley 1500V dc locomotives (latterly BR class 76) in the sidings at Reddish depot on 1 June 1969, with both examples (E26011 and E26016) looking fresh from a works visit. Fifty-six of these locomotives were built (all at Gorton) to handle traffic on the newly electrified (1954) Manchester-Sheffield-Wath route via Woodhead. One example, E26020 (later 76020) survives, having been preserved by the NRM see image 60623.
