Monte
The nearest thing on the island of Madeira to a Motive Power Depot is this set of sidings inside the passenger hall at Monte cable-car station. Several gondolas were being serviced at this time while the others continued their journeys up and down the 3.2km run (and 560m climb) from Funchal. The Teleferico opened in 2000 and is described locally as a replacement for the rack-railway that closed during WWII.
