Hopetown Carriage Works
The frontage of the refurbished Hopetown Carriage Works building, see image 77224, with the main office centre section and south wing seen in this view across Hopetown Lane in July 2021. The centre section is emblazened with the legend 'Darlington Locomotive Works' in recognition of this part of the building having been used for the construction of Peppercorn designed A1 60163 'Tornado', by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, and at present for building the Gresley designed P2 2-8-2 2007 'Prince of Wales'.
