Ulverston Canal Rolling Bridge

A view from the west side of the Ulverston Canal, looking across the Rolling Bridge towards the towpath in January 2023. The line to Plumpton Junction continued through the trees along a low embankment. Much of the mechanism that allowed the bridge deck to retract into the west bank can still be seen. A footpath has been added since closure to rail traffic in 1994.
