Ormskirk

44761 approaches Ormskirk with the 16.53 Preston - Liverpool Exchange in early March 1968. In the background can be made out one of the EMUs introduced in the 1940s (which I think became class 502) and going off to the right the former L&Y branch to Rainford Junction (closed to passengers in 1956). Part of this was retained for goods traffic but the remaining section to Ormskirk Branch Sidings was taken out of use in May 1968.
