At first glance, this Bathgate shot from March 2005 doesn't look right, but at that time what appeared to be double track was in fact two single lines, one for passenger trains and the other for freight traffic. This arrangement started at Carmondean Junction west of Livingston North, the line to that point being single from Bathgate Junction. See image 6841. 66250 is heading away from Bathgate with the 13.24 to Washwood Heath as 156445 heads towards the station with a working from Edinburgh.
