Britannia

The Lee Colliery Bridge at Britannia carried an incline tramway over the Bacup to Rochdale line. The colliery closed around the end of the 19th Century but the bridge still stands, and affords access to some hillside smallholdings. This view from near New Line, the road that took its name from the railway, looks up the steep hillside towards the site of the mine workings on 19th February 2025. See image 92023 for the trackbed view of this splendid structure.
