Hooton

Hooton, looking north from the disused platforms once served by Paddington to Birkenhead Woodside trains, at 10.54 on Wednesday, 30th April 2025. They were withdrawn in March 1967, although they continued to be used by DMUs shuttling between Chester and Woodside until November 1967 when Woodside closed and the service cut back to Rock Ferry. This was curtailed at Hooton in 1985 when electrification was extended from Rock Ferry but these platforms became disused when electrification was further extended to Chester and Ellesmere Port in 1993 and 1994 respectively and the diesel shuttle withdrawn. Passengers still have to walk along the disused platform to exit the station.
