Sandhills: Looking from Sandhills Liverpool bound platform to a 35 mile milepost sited immediately forward of the east side subway entrance. This is the L&YR mileage measured from Manchester Victoria via Atherton, Wigan Wallgate and Kirkby.

Kelty Pit No 3: View west with the course of the Blairadam branch running from bottom left to distant right. Kelty Pit No 3 was just to the left of the nearer part of the line. Pit No 1, later the site of the gas works, was where the overgrown green area can be seen further away. On the right side of the line was the brick works.

Bruce Grove: I saw an item on AOL news that Bruce Grove station on the Enfield Town line and now part of London Overground, has been restored to its 1872 glory so I went to have a look. But when I got there, apart from repainting of the platform stanchions, the only part that has been restored is the long derelict waiting room on the up platform and, irksomely, this was closed with a "we regret" notice stuck on the door, as seen here on the afternoon of Tuesday, 6th February 2024. This was very annoying as on a wall inside is a replica BR totem nameboard sign in Eastern Region blue that I wanted particularly to photo; now I shall have to go back another time and hope that the waiting room will be open.

Swinderby: Class 60 , 60091 hads 6E54 the empty oil tanks from Kingsbury to Humber approaching Swinderby .

Boar's Head: 390114 is on an Avanti service from Euston to Edinburgh on 10th January 2024, seen passing the site of Boars Head station and the closed junction for the Lancashire Union line to Adlington, Chorley and Blackburn.
