Crouch Hill: 710269, London Overground GOBLIN from Barking Riverside to Gospel Oak departing from Crouch Hill, seen through a bus stop style waiting shelter, at 14.34 on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024. The original platform canopies were replaced in the early 1970s but the street level entrance building, after standing derelict and boarded-up for a number of years, has now been converted into a rather nice small cafe.
Norden: A Planet 0-4-0 'BEYRL' parked up in Norden yard on 22nd October 2024. I think it was on standby for the Swanage Railway in case the Bulleid Pacific failed.
Leuchars Junction [2nd]: View of Leuchars Junction in February 1965, taken from an incoming northbound diesel unit.
Burntisland East Junction: 66710 passes the site of Burntisland loco shed (on the right), with 6K17, the Medium Output Ballast Train, on 27th October 2024. A miniature railway ran alongside the wall on the left in 1954.
Hamilton Central: Not a lot remains at Hamilton Central of the Caledonian Railway station, the main feature being the former southside booking office and entrance on Kemp Street, and that is now starting to look somewhat rundown. This view is from 24th October 2024 and although the bas-relief lettering is still with us it is now partially obscured by tree growth. On the right can be seen a tablet showing 1906, the date of construction. For a comparison shot from 2006 see image [[9044[].
Leyburn: Pacer 143623, built by Walter Alexander at Camelon, is seen on 21st October 2024 at Leyburn, forming the 1630 departure to Leeming Bar, the last of the Wensleydale Railway two-hourly shuttles that day.
Strowan Tunnel: View west of the former trackbed up on top of the large retaining wall which held the Crieff and Comrie Railway above the River Earn east of Trowan Lodge. It's extremely overgrown and walking is very hard going, but fortunately Lady Mary's Walk is nearby to use instead (below, just off to the left).
Doncaster: 66233 has a coal train at Doncaster, crossing over to head towards Down Decoy, on 9th September 2003.
