Strand Road Level Crossing: On the penultimate day of this service, having delivered a load of bitumen to the Preston Docks terminal, the driver waves as 56105 draws onto Strand Road, Preston with 6E43 empties, Colas Ribble Rail to Haverton Hill on 31st October 2024. After the following day's last service there will be the empties to collect at some point.

Bo'ness: East Wemyss Coal Co Ltd No.20, built by Andrew Barclay in 1939, was one of Britain's largest 0-6-0T designs and used on the Wemyss Private Railway system in East Fife. Seen in the siding at Bo'ness in 1988. In 2024 this engine is under a full rebuild.

Manchester International Airport: Looking over the buffers at the Manchester Airport terminus on 2nd October 2024 we see, from left to right, Metrolink 3062 arriving, Northern 323223 arriving on a Crewe to Piccadilly stopper, which will reverse here to rejoin the Styal Loop, and TPE 397006, being serviced before returning to Glasgow Central. There are two further platform roads, off picture to the right.

Doncaster Works: 47635, all painted up and smart for the Doncaster Works 2003 open day. It entered traffic on 29th July 1964 as D1606, becoming 47029 under the TOPS scheme in 1974. It was fitted with Electric Train Heat in January 1986 and renumbered 47635. Previously named 'Jimmy Milne' it was renamed 'The Lass O'Ballochmyle' at this open day. It survived into preservation and is operational, in large logo livery, on the Epping Ongar Railway.
