Bidston: 777043, heading for West Kirby, calls at Bidston on 16th October 2024. The rain was monsoon like at this time, and this small roof overhang of the island platform station building was very handy.
Mossend East Junction: On a dull November day in 2002, 66201 approaches Mossend East Junction ( formerly Fullwood Junction ) from the Bellshill direction with 7B75, the 12.30 Hunterston - Millerhill. The lines to the left are for Motherwell and to the right for Mossend Yard.
Chingford [1st]: This bridge over King's Road carries the 1878 extension to the present day Chingford station (half a mile to the north on the left) from the site of the 1873 station (on right), seen through the front upstairs windows of a no. 212 bus about to pass underneath, in the rain at 14.35 on Monday, 28th October 2024. The 1873 station became a goods yard after the extension opened (originally to continue to High Beech but never completed) but the station buildings were not demolished until 1953 with the goods yard itself being closed in 1967. A modern housing estate now stands on the site.
Burntisland East Junction: 60009 'Union of South Africa' passes Burntisland East Junction with 'Scottish Steam Special No.1', the return to main line steam working in May 1973. A class 47-hauled service nears.
Leven [2nd]: Leven station looking west on 30 August 1969, with two Metro Cammell diesel units present. The one on the right was the ‘Fife Railtour’, an excursion organised by the Branch Line Society.
Strowan Tunnel: Strowan Tunnel viewed from the south. A metal fence has been placed over the tunnel mouths at either end since my last visit in the 1990s.
Heaton Shed: Q6 0-8-0 No 63367 plus brakevan are making their way slowly past Heaton Shed on 28 May 1964.
