Moorgate [GNand CR]: 717001 just arrived at Moorgate where it terminated, at 13.19 on New Year's Day, 1st January 2025. This is where, tragically, the Moorgate disaster of 28th February 1975 occurred, when the line was still part of the London Underground. It does not seem like nearly half a century ago, as I worked in Moorgate at the time. A train of LU 1938 stock, instead of slowing down as it arrived at the station, accelarated through the platform and crashed into the over-run tunnel, resulting in 43 fatalities and 74 serious injuries.
Larbert: One of the last surviving Clan locomotives, 72008 'Clan McLeod', passes through Larbert with a southbound van train on 4th April 1966, two weeks before its withdrawal. On the left is Larbert South signal box, which is noted as closing in 1973, and the bay platform which was used by Grangemouth workings, and possibly Polmont from memory.
Dinting: Robinson O4 2-8-0 no. 63601 inside Dinting Railway Centre prior to its closure in 1990. The engine was then moved to the National Railway Museum in York.
Shirebrook North: 20215 and 20108 at Shirebrook North, returning to the depot at Shirebrook, having taken some empty wagons to Clipstone mine in March 1990.
Middleton Junction: A short distance from Middleton Junction, the 1842 line to Oldham Werneth crossed the Rochdale Canal but this abutment on the east bank is all that remains of the bridge. The steps lead up to a trackbed footpath, which follows the Chadderton Goods line to its old terminus just over half a mile from here. However, virtually all traces of the Werneth Incline route beyond Chadderton Junction have been removed. See [[91709]] taken from the bridge looking along the line towards Chadderton.
Cumberland Street: Improvement work begins on Glasgow city centre rail bridge. Network Rail has begun work to repair, refurbish, and repaint a 140-year-old railway bridge over Eglinton Street (A77) near Glasgow Central station.
St Fillans: The main station building at St Fillans still stands. This was on the westbound platform (the village side of the station). The view is from the footpath to the north of the former station.
Galashiels [1st]: A4 Pacific No 60031 'Golden Plover' is at Galashiels, as part of the 'Easter Rambler No 4' tour, on 18 April 1965.
