Grange-over-Sands: A new flow in 2025 is bringing some welcome extra freight traffic to the Cumbrian Coast line. Stone is being taken from Shap to the Low-level Waste Repository at Drigg. 68005 is running alongside the promenade at Grange-over-Sands with the returning empties on 24th July 2025. Empty and full trains both reverse at Carnforth.

Clacton-on-Sea: 720115 standing 'Not in Service' at Clacton-on-Sea at 13.33 on Tuesday, 15th July 2025. After days of heat into the mid-30s C, this day saw a brief respite and, as I arrived at the station, rain began heavily although it proved to be only a short sharp shower.

Preston Riverside: View from the cab of 0-6-0DE NS 663, at the boundary gate of the Ribble Steam yard, looking back towards the two road diesel shed on 11th June 2025. The passenger platform is to the left of and behind this building. The diesel shed is in two parts, with that to the rear being used by the Furness Railway Trust. At the time of this evening visit two GWR locos, 4-6-0 4979 'Wootton Hall' and 0-6-2T 5643, were respectively undergoing restoration and repair.

Preston Riverside: The very restricted view forward from Dutch 'Class 11' NS 663 on the Ribble Steam Railway demonstrates why driving controls are duplicated left and right. The loco is passing through the station during an organised evening visit on 11th June 2025. Until recently the siding on the far right would have contained bitumen tankers but that freight flow ended recently and RSR heritage wagons are now stored there.

Preston Riverside: The cab and control desk of NS 663 at the Ribble Steam Railway in June 2025. A 1950s product of English Electric at Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows, and very similar to the LMS Class 11s. This was built for the Dutch Railways though, so all gauges and signs in the cab are in metric.
