Description

This foundry, also known as the East Foundry, produced a wide range of products, including railway stationary engines and locomotives.

When opened it was located on the shoreline. Dock Street, and the docks to the south, were built on recovered seabed.

Foundry now owned by Gourlay, Mudie and Company, associated with the Camperdown Shipyard.

The works was directly west of the Dundee East End Mineral Depot of the Dundee and Arbroath Railway / Trades Lane and Carolina Port Railway.

One building, the erecting shop, has survived and been re-assembled to the west of its original site, in use as a food court.
