This gas works was in the east of Dundee, north of Camperdown Dock and East Dock Street. It was rail served by reversal from the Dundee East End Mineral Depot to the north of Dundee East terminus status.
This was the works of the New Dundee Gas Light Company opened around 1846. It was controlled by the backers of the Dundee and Arbroath Railway. After 1868 it was owned by Dundee Gas Commissioners until 1908, then Dundee Corporation Gas Department.
In addition to the standard gauge lines there was a 2ft system within the works. Small locomotives were used to haul hot coke and to remove ashes.
It closed as a gas production works in 1963, with gasometers remaining on site.
