Opened on the West Highland Railway. This is a single track girder viaduct with four 80ft girders crossing the River Lochy just outside Fort William. A footbridge on the side of the viaduct connects Lochyside and Caol on the north bank to Inverlochy on the south bank. The stone piers are castellated to match the nearby Inverlochy Castle.
The next station south is the terminus at Fort William and to the north is Banavie by the Caledonian Canal.
The viaduct is older than the Mallaig line, being part of the now closed branch to Banavie [1st] station which was extended to Mallaig. Banavie Junction [2nd] was a short distance to the north.
The neighbouring footbridge, just to the west, is on top of the pipe bridge built for the Scottish Pulp and Paper Mills.
Tom-na-Faire Depot is a short distance to the south.
0.5 miles from Fort William Junction.
The bridge crosses at the Castle Pool, named for Old Inverlochy Castle to the immediate east on the south bank.
