Description

This foundry, of John Neilson & Sons Old Basin, was north of Society Row. The Fairy Queen was built here in 1831, the first iron steamer on the River Clyde. Although the Forth and Clyde Canal was just to the north the vessel was taken by road to the Broomielaw to be launched.
