This was an unsuccessful attempt to built a hydropathic establishment in Oban spurred on by the soon to open extension of the Callander and Oban Railway from Dalmally to Oban in 1880. Construction began in 1881 on the high ground to the east of Oban station using inclined planes to bring building materials uphill to the site. The project failed in 1882.
The ruins of the building remain, somewhat overgrown and robbed of some stone for local construction.
