This was a two platform station in slight cutting below road level. There were Caledonian Railway style buildings on the platforms (the westbound platform building was the larger) and ramps to street level. The passenger station was on the north side of the Erskine Ferry Road.
The goods yard was to the east (actually south of Erskine Ferry Road), served from the east and on the south side of the line. Sidings ran to several works including the Mountblow Oil Terminal (or Dunnotar) and Arnott, Young and Co [Old Kilpatrick]. The signal box was on the south side of Eskine Ferry Road, east side of the line, opening in 1896 with the station. It was a very tall box, looking out over the the road to the station and goods yard.
The station closed to passengers in 1964. The box closed in 1965 as the line west to Bowling [CR] and Dunglass Junction [West] fell out of use.
The Mountblow Oil Terminal remained open, now served by a single track goods only railway. It was reached by reversal in from the former goods yard. It fell out of use beyond the Chivas Bros Siding [Dalmuir] in the 1980s and was partly lifted, formally closed in 1993.
The cutting at the station site has been filled at its eastern end, but the platforms remain. The trackbed is usually flooded.
