Panmure Signal Box (-1970)Opened on the Dundee and Arbroath Railway.
Description
This signal box was between Barry Links (to the west) and Golf Street (a little to the east) stations. It controlled access to three works on the north side of the line which were, from west to east:
- Taymouth Engineering Works and Iron Foundry
- Vitriol Works
- Panmure Works (Jute)
The signal box was on the south side of the line opposite the turn out for the Vitriol Works sidings.
The signal box closed in 1970. The sidings are removed.
All three works are now closed. The Jute Mills buildings are now in other uses, the others demolished and their sites now occupied by new houses.
