This public siding was on the North Monkland Railway. There was a passing loop and a siding from the eastbound loop, reached by reversal.
To the west was Rigg Colliery Pit No 6 and, beyond that, Drumbowie Siding. to the east was Drumshangie Junction and the branch to the Drumshangie Collieries.
The siding became the end of the line from Kipps Junction in 1954 when the line was cut back from Greengairs Siding. The Rigghead loop could be used for rounding trains visiting the Pinwinnie Coup tip which was to the west, although the coup had its own loop on the North Monkland line.
