Since Saturday 18th February 2023 Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group (ARPG) who operate Doon Valley Railway have initiated a crowd funding campaign to save Doon Valley Railway. This follows the recently disappointing news from the owner who currently leases many of the buildings to ARPG, expressing they now wish to sell the buildings Doon Valley Railway lease for operations.
(Permalink) Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group Dalmellington Iron Works Doon Valley Railway Dunaskin Platform: The Doon Valley Railway is holding Open days again in 2022. The Barclay diesel shunter is presently deputising for Barclay 0-4-0ST No. 10, which is awaiting reassembly after boiler work.
Dunaskin Platform: Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group's No. 10 taking water from their refurbished BP tank wagon on 25th August 2019. This has to be done twice per day due to the longer run to the Laight Crossing.

Your support for Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group (ARPG) who operate Doon Valley Railway (DVR) now means more than ever and will shape and secure our future. It has been announced (February 2023) by the owner of the buildings we currently lease from them, that they intend to place the buildings up for sale within the next six months in order to sell them off. The buildings and areas the ARPG face losing are: Ticket Office, Gift Shop, Customer Toilets, Exhibition and Artefacts Room, Volunteer Rest Room, Signal Box Cafe, Museum, Joiners & Metal Shop and the associated grounds surrounding this area.
