Rail bosses are hatching plans to offer half-hourly trains along the Gourock and Wemyss Bay lines from the middle of next year according to the areas MSP. Stuart McMillan recently met with ScotRail bosses to raise concerns about their plans to axe nine fast train services between Gourock and Glasgow. The route between Rutherglen and Exhibition Centre has re-opened following a 32m improvement project. The structural elements alone, including work at Anderston tunnel, saw engineers complete over 47,000 hours of work. The slab track work was made up of 19 separate sites, ten of which were to replace damaged sections of the top slab ranging from two to eight metres in length. This work extends the life of the existing slab and also reduces the risk of temporary speed restrictions being imposed. Principal contractors involved in delivery for the work include AMCO-Giffen, Story and Bam Nuttall.
