Class 37 locos offered for sale DRS is offering three locomotives for sale - 37609, 37402 and 37423 are now available for bids as part of the operators on-going modernisation journey. The process will run until 7 July 2023 and is another chapter in DRSs push for lower carbon locomotives and ambitious fleet modernisation plans.

The fourth tranche of Direct Rail Services (DRS) heritage stock is now available for sale. This sale will see 10 Class 37 locomotives on a buy and lease back scheme, and also three other locomotives offered for sale. Locomotives 37218, 37401, 37419, 37402, 37407, 37422, 37423, 37424, 37425, 37716 are all offered as part of the buy.

Direct Rail Services (DRS) is making changes to its planned open day ticketing. Due to a huge increase in demand, DRS has taken the decision to make their annual open day a ticket only event. In previous years, tickets have been available to purchase on the day but due to the increase in expected numbers.

Direct Rail Services (DRS) has extended its partnership with UKs biggest supermarket chain. Nuclear Transport Solutions rail division has signed a new three-year deal with supermarket giant Tesco. An internal traction strategy has been produced by Direct Rail Services that plans to gradually eliminate the heritage part of the company's fleet - starting with Class 20s and 37s.
DRS Managing Director Debbie Francis told RAIL that the speed and extent of the plan will depend on customer demand for the traction, with Network Rails requirement for Class 20s for seasonal railhead treatment work being an example. Except at a clients behest, no further heavy maintenance will be carried out on these classes. The locomotives will not be sold, but will be offered to heritage railways for service off the national network at a peppercorn charge. This approach has previously been used successfully. Direct Rail Services (DRS) announced on February 3 that it has received the first of 10 class 88 locomotives from Stadler Rail at its Kingmoor Depot in Carlisle, Britain.
