But campaigners Save the Ciste say throwing £10 million at repairs will not solve the resorts problems, with skiers disappearing steadily since the closure of two chair lifts and three surface lifts between 2002 and 2007, after the funicular opened.

The UK's highest railway has been out of action since October last year due to structural problems.
HIE, which also owns the Cairngorm Mountain ski centre, near Aviemore, said repairs will not be possible until spring or summer next year.
It said piers, beams and foundations all require to be strengthened.

CairnGorm Mountain Ltd (CML) was placed into administration last month due to 'unsustainable cash-flow problems'.

CairnGorm Mountain is gearing up to ensure the popular funicular railway undergoes some major maintenance work.

The UKs highest railway has been extremely busy during the winter season following some fantastic snow conditions which saw 59,003 snowsports enthusiasts and a further 51,240 non-skiing guests using the train between November 1. last year, 2017 until the close of the season on April 28.

To allow the work to be undertaken, the railway will be closed for one month from this Monday until July 4th.
