Kenilworth station has reopened to passengers after decades of campaigning.
The station shut in the 1960s as part of the Dr Beeching cuts. Residents, who campaigned for 30 years for the station, had been promised it would open in 2016 but the start date kept getting put back. A town's fifty-year wait for a railway station continues amid a row over when trains can run through it.
The county council says the site in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, is complete but has been told by the Department for Transport (DfT) that neither trains nor drivers can be supplied until February. The authority said it was 'beyond disappointing'. The government department said the council was to blame for delays. Ten people have been evacuated from a train which caught fire.
Smoke could be seen billowing out of the three-carriage train at the old railway station in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. The engine at the front of the train set alight, the fire service said. Operator Vivarail said it was a test train and all staff were safe. National Rail's website said trains will not run between Coventry and Leamington Spa for the rest of the day. Services between Manchester Piccadilly and Bournemouth will divert via Solihull and not call at Birmingham International and Coventry. Work has started at the site of a new railway station for Kenilworth.

Plans to reintroduce a railway station to a town which lost its rail link in the 1960s have been given final government approval.
The Department for Transport has announced it will give £5m towards the £11.3m railway station in Kenilworth. It said it hoped local services between Coventry, Kenilworth and Leamington Spa could start in December 2016. These could be followed by rail services between Kenilworth and Birmingham in 2019.
