Scottish Forestry says 225,000 tonnes of wood will be transported by sea to Ayrshire. The Scottish government agency said the move would save about 2.2 million lorry miles - including 9,750 fewer lorry trips via the A82 - and prevent the release of almost 4,000 tonnes of harmful CO2 emissions.

All ScotRail services between Glasgow and Ayr will be running normally again from tomorrow, Friday, 30 July, after the line was closed following a devastating fire at Troon station.

ScotRail is to reopen platform two at Troon station on Monday, 26 July, following a fire which devastated station buildings last weekend.
Network Rail has fully assessed the damage to the buildings, platform canopies, overhead power cables and other infrastructure. Special supports have been designed and installed on platform two which enabled track-level repairs to be carried out, and similar props on platform one are supporting the beams over the tracks which overhead line equipment is attached to.
