It seems incredible to think that a substantial car-ferry service between Kyle of Lochalsh on the mainland and Kyleakin on Skye was only in operation for 25 years. [Article requires subscription. -RS]

A contractor has been appointed to remove some of the last pieces of infrastructure from the former Skye ferry at Kyleakin.
