The 'Bowline' was created using a disused railway viaduct, and has created a new linear park connecting to the National Cycle network. [The trackbed of the former Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire Railway/CR/LMS crosses over the Forth and Clyde Canal, open railway (the Glasgow, Dumbarton and Helensburgh Railway/NBR/LNER) and A814 in quick succession. -RS]

A major industrial and commercial development at ExxonMobil's former Esso site in Bowling can move forward after a deal to transfer ownership of the land to West Dunbartonshire Council was completed. The transfer marks a significant milestone for the £34 million Glasgow City Region City Deal project. The 150-acre site is currently undergoing extensive remediation to prepare it. [The out of use alignment of the Caledonian and Dumbartonshire Junction Railway runs through the site, which it served. Trains now follow the former Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire Railway alignment around the northern edge.]
