The Metro line between Pelaw and South Shields has re-opened following the completion of the £104m Metro Flow project. The first Metro trains were operated along the line, which has been closed for 13 weeks to allow for Metros biggest ever improvement scheme, from the scheduled start of timetabled services this morning. Nexus, the public body which owns and manages Metro, thanked the customers for their patience during the closure, which was extended by ten days to complete overhead line and signal works.
