Tynemouth: Inside the 1882 NER station at Tynemouth in August 2010 looking from the main concourse over the abandoned excursion platforms towards Newcastle. While there appears to have been little change with regard to the poor state of some of the canopies in the past 28 years see image [[20686]], happily, funding is now in place for the COMPLETE restoration of the roof.

Hoghton: Beginning the long descent of Hoghton bank down to Bamber Bridge is 158793 on a York to Blackpool working. This hourly Lancashire-Yorkshire service is very well used and its hard to believe that for many years the Copy Pit line that it uses was freight only and rail passengers had to make the long detour via Manchester.
Oubeck Loops: Having taken on water at Carnforth on 18 August, Union of South Africa makes good progress towards the next stop at Preston with the 'Cumbrian Mountain Express'. The train has just passed Oubeck loops on its way south.

Leyland: A4 Pacific no 60009 Union of South Africa should have been in full flow as it passed through Leyland on 18 August 2012 with the returning 'Cumbrian Mountain Express'. This was not to be as No.9 was slowed to allow a Manchester to Blackpool service to cross in front of it at Euxton Junction.
Sheriffhall City Bypass Overbridge: Work in progress on the creation of a temporary diversion alongside the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass, just east of Sherifhall Roundabout, see here in August 2013. Burnley Manchester Road: A Blackpool to York service calls at Burnley Manchester Road on 18 August 2014. The new station building is reported to be complete but is not being opened until the start of the Todmorden curve services to Manchester. At the time of writing this could still be some months away because of issues with rolling stock, train crew, signalling...etc. Latest suggestion is that services will start in 2015.
