This line was built to the north of the Singer Works and allowed for the expansion of the works (west side of Kilbowie Road) and the development of a large passenger station for the works (east side of Kilbowie Road).
This line is divided into a number of portions.

It originally had station buildings with full length canopies on the platforms and a booking office on Kilbowie Road at its east end. The new station directly adjoined the factory on its north side, it was built to serve it and the local area.
