Woodacre Crossing: The Easter 2021 Warrington Blockade saw trains diverted and running at different times. Freight workings such as this and the Chirk log train winding through Manchester delighted enthusiasts. The Margam to Hardendale train normally runs overnight but 66004 was powering north through Woodacre at lunchtime on 5th April.

Balgray Tunnel: Not long after emerging from Dawsholm depot, an odd-looking combination of Standard 4 2-6-4T 80004 and Standard Class 4 2-6-0 76046 heads towards Balgray tunnel, complete with guard's van in tow, off to collect a haul of mineral wagons from Clydeside. 24th September 1964

Drimoleague: Surviving pedestrian gate beside former level crossing of line to Skibbereen and Baltimore over R586 Bantry road just west of Drimoleague station. This gave access to the station. The bent rails are a distinctive feature of most gates on the CB&SCR system and sometimes provide the only clue as to the existence of the former line. The colours seem to be CIE colours from the time of closure in 1961 although given other similar gates are normally rusty, these appear to have been repainted.

Roe Green Junction: Roe Green Junction was the point where the Tyldesley Loop line joined the Bolton Great Moor Street branch. The line to Tyldesley diverged left in this view, and the line on the right to Bolton climbs through Walkden. Both are now part of Salford's network of greenways on these old LNWR lines. Passenger services to Bolton ceased in 1954 but the loop line through Leigh to Kenyon Junction lasted until 1969.

Salsburgh Goods: A distinguished looking old bridge parapet standing on the north side of the Glasgow and Edinburgh Road (B7066) between Newhouse and Harthill, North Lanarkshire, in September 2013. On the other side of the bridge once stood Salsburgh Goods (1864-1956). The cutting beyond has now been infilled and much of the area reclaimed, with the M8 now crossing the old formation a quarter of a mile to the north. For details see image [[44734]].

Buckshaw Parkway: April 2021 has seen a series of daily ecs training runs between Manchester Victoria and Preston using Class 323 EMUs, a train seldom seen in the Preston area. On the 14th the third return trip to Manchester with 323237 is seen approaching Buckshaw Parkway.
