Kirkby Stephen East: I was just about to leave the Stainmore Railway station at Kirkby Stephen East but was invited in to take some photos. Very nice people there but nothing was moving on this particular day.

Haymarket MPD: Quite a long time resident in the scrap line at Haymarket depot in 1974 was 40162. I was sad to see this as I had plenty of runs behind this loco when it was working. A long term Edinburgh Haymarket based loco, this engine was condemned on the 5 December 1982 but remained at Haymarket until June 1985 when it was moved to Millerhill, and cut up during 1986.

Upminster: Upminster, C2C platforms, looking west towards Fenchurch Street, at 11.44 on Tuesday, 5th November 2024. This station was opened on 1st May 1885 by the LTSR with their 'cut-off' line between Barking and Pitsea to avoid the long detour to Southend via the original line through Grays and Tilbury. LU District Line services from Ealing Broadway ran all the way to Southend from 1910 until 1939, changing from electric to steam locomotives at Barking; this service was not resumed after 1945. An additional set of tracks for the exclusive use of local District Line trains was built alongside the line from Barking to Upminster in 1932.

Hattersley: 323224 slows to call at Hattersley's island platform, with a service heading for Piccadilly on 30th October 2024. Hattersley opened in 1978 and the island platform as built could accommodate 6-coach trains. However, some other stations on the line have shorter platforms so it only usually sees 3-car EMUs and the maintained area has been cut back. The cutting behind the train once had two short tunnels but these were opened out for the Woodhead electrification, one being replaced by the girder bridge in the middle-distance.
