Edinburgh Waverley: Power car 41001 is on the rear of the the prototype HST as it heads east out of Waverley in 1973.
Farringdon [EL]: Farringdon station, Elizabeth Line, westbound platform, looking west, at 14.36 on Saturday, 30th November 2024, where I had just arrived on 345 029 from Abbey Wood that had departed the south-east London terminus at 14.17. Take my advice: if you want to change here to Thameslink or the Underground, go in the front carriage travelling west, or the rear carriage travelling east, to avoid a marathon-like walk along the platforms.
Winning Junction: Winning signalbox, looking east on the North Blyth freight branch in 1991.
Bathgate Upper: A shot from 1975 of the exterior of Bathgate station, which closed on 9th January 1956 although it still retained a booking office for many years selling tickets / seat reservations etc. The building came to grief following a fire circa 1982. Also in the shot is an Eastern Scottish Bristol Lodekka from Bathgate depot.
Dinting: L&NWR 2-4-0 'Hardwicke' no.790, later LMS (5031) built in 1873 known as a class called the 'Precedents and took part in the Race to the North. Receiving some TLC in Dinting Railway Centre, prior to its closure in 1990, before being transferred to the National Railway Museum in York.
Mistley: 31467, 1310hrs Parkeston Quay to Blackpool North, skirts the River Stour near Bradfield, between Wrabness and Mistley, on 24th October 1987.
Crieff [2nd]: This was the view west from the former westbound platform at Crieff [2nd] station in 1988. Much of the westbound platform could be found at the time, the space where three tracks ran between the platforms had been filled in and the eastbound platform had been buried during development work. The telegraph pole on the right survived for many years after line closure, and long after 1988, but it has now gone.
Dalgety Bay: The 1Q77 Measurement Train, running Mossend-Inverness-Aberdeen-Inverness, approaches Dalgety Bay led by Colas 43257 with 43277 on the rear.
