Highgate: View from W5 bus to Archway, passing underneath the still incomplete bridge across Stanhope Road at Highgate that will eventually link the two halves of the Parkland Walk footpath, formerly the GNR Alexandra Palace 'Northern Heights' branch. This was severed when the first footbridge, that replaced the original railway bridge, was found to be unsafe. This view is at 12.35 on Saturday, 15th March 2025 looking towards Crouch End and Finsbury Park but, alas, does not signify the rebuilding and reopening of the railway. (For further details, see my image [[91913]] from February 2025.)

Healey Dell Viaduct: The 'Siamese Bridges', near Healey Dell Viaduct, were joined together by this stone work. The bridge on the right of this picture never carried trains but it is fastened to the other that carried the single track line between Shawclough & Healey and Broadley. Below the lower bridge were huge abutments, stretching down the hill alongside the stream that these bridges span.

Horton-in-Ribblesdale: Very little time to enjoy the wonderful sight of Midland Compound 4-4-0 no.1000 piloting Jubilee 5593 ‘Kolhapur’ on a 1983 ‘Cumbrian Mountain Pullman’. Sleet turning to snow, plus a fierce gale, meant a quick dive out of the car as the train passed, then an even quicker dive back in. The train was very late due to earlier operating problems. Heavy ‘enthusiast’ traffic, with difficult road conditions, meant little prospect of catching up again as the train headed north. Zero prospect, in fact, as the tour was cut short at Appleby, rather than continuing to Carlisle.
