Buchanan Street: Two souvenir railtour tickets. The last public run of an A4, from Buchanan Street to Aberdeen and back behind 60019 'Bittern' on 3rd September 1966, and another A4 excursion to Aberdeen the following May behind, by then preserved, A4 4498 (60007) 'Sir Nigel Gresley'.

Mormond Halt: Looking towards Strichen at Mormond Halt, a designation the station acquired in 1939. There was no goods yard here but there was a single siding where a couple of trucks could be dealt with. In 1950 this remote station was reduced to Saturdays Only services, but it remained open until the 1965 closure of the line. See image [[51061]] from a similar viewpoint in 1950.

Dingwall Junction: The return working of 'The Great Britain XVII', from Wick to Inverness on 1st May 2025, was hauled by Black 5 No.45407 'The Lancashire Fusilier', pictured approaching Dingwall Junction with the Cromarty Firth and bridge in the background. 47832 on rear.

Berwick-upon-Tweed: Demolition of the goods shed at Berwick upon Tweed was well underway in April 1968, although the now obligatory high-viz clothing was still in the future. With a lot still to come down there should have been no shortage of kindling sticks locally that year.

Strathbungo: My Scottish Region photography permit for 1966, allowing me lineside between Strathbungo, East Kilbride and Kilmarnock (but not near bridges and tunnels). Hard to believe in 2025, with palisade fencing and trackside permits for staff, that this was quite normal in the 1960s.

Kingshouse Halt: View north to Kingshouse Halt from near Rusgachan. In the distance the former line curved to the right at Kingshouse as it approached Balquhidder. OS maps show the site of a battle between the McLarens and the Leneys on the very wet land to the west (left) of the River Balvaig, the location known as Stronlaney.

Portobello Freightliner Terminal: A scan of a poor quality slide, dating from early 1979, looking towards Edinburgh from the footbridge at Portobello East. The train in the picture is 17.10 Edinburgh - Newcastle local, worked by a Deltic, and to the right is Portobello Freightliner Terminal which opened in 1968 and closed in 1985. A Class 37 can be seen awaiting departure with what from memory was a working to Glasgow.
