Description

This station is a terminus. It has two platforms and three lines - the central line being for locomotive release or stock storage. A fanlight remains at the buffer end of the station, a remaining part of the trainshed.

The station formed one side of a triangle of lines - the south west corner. The north end of the triangle runs north from Buxton North Junction to Dove Holes, the route still open today. The south east corner runs south east from Buxton South Junction to Hindlow, today a goods only line. The south west to south east line is closed, the associated lines and platform at Buxton being removed.

This was the London and North Western Railway terminus, alongside to the south east was the Buxton [Midland Railway] terminus.
