Name and dates

Heathhall Farm Bridge (1862-1966)

Opened on the Dumfries, Lochmaben and Lockerbie Railway.

Description

This is an iron bridge, formerly an occupation bridge connecting Heathhall Farm (west) to a field (east). The bridge is not intact but striking. Unusually attractive perhaps to please a landowner. The farm is now housing. C listed.

The bridge can be viewed from the former trackbed, now a footpath. It is half way between Dumfries Goods Junction (south) and Locharbriggs (north). The engineer may have been George Graham.

A little to the north were the sidings for the Heathhall Rubber Works.
