This timetable, commencing on the 29th of September, saw introduction of Virgin's new Cross Country pattern with 31 additional trains daily serving Scotland including an hourly East Coast service to Edinburgh with alternate trains continuing to Dundee. GNER recast its timetable to allow for the Dolphingstone speed restriction (due to mining subsidence). ScotRail starts to run Class 334s in passenger-carrying service on the North Clyde routes.
