The Jacobite steam train, which doubled as The Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter movies, has completed its first run of the season.

The famous steam train used in the films will start summer trips this month. The Jacobites first scheduled run this summer will be Monday 26 April, the day the Scottish Government lifts restrictions on travel following the coronavirus lockdown.

It is usually a magical experience for rail enthusiasts. But councillors have written to the operators of the 'Harry Potter' steam train concerned about the dumping of toilet waste on the scenic track. A group of Lochaber Highland councillors say the 'Hogwarts Express' is causing problems for track workers.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the current restrictions that are being imposed throughout Scotland, we have had to bring forward the end of the Jacobite season for 2020 to Friday 6th November. The Morning service will now run each day Monday to Friday to Friday 6th November.

Following Nicola Sturgeons announcement today (7th October 2020), the Jacobite service will be running as advertised on the web pages. There will be a restriction on the selling of alcoholic drinks during the period from 9 October at 6pm to Sunday 25 October inclusive. But apart from that the service will be running as scheduled.

'The Greatest Railway Journey in the World'. Due to popular demand we are pleased to announce that the Jacobite 2020 season has been extended. The Morning service will now run each day (including Saturdays and Sundays) until the 25th October, then Monday to Friday from Monday 26th October to Friday 13th November.

West Coast Railways, which operates the famous Jacobite Steam Train, complained to ScotRail chiefs when tourists were caught short in Fort William.

We received some positive news yesterday. It was announced by the Scottish Government that they intend to lift the restrictions on the tourism and the leisure sector on Wednesday 15th July, and this would be confirmed on Thursday 9th July.
We are therefore gearing up and preparing the Jacobite to take to the rails once more, passengers travelling can be assured that all relevant safety precautions will be met and further details will be sent to travellers well in advance.
